On the news release about the Temporary Workers bill the following is written:

The Liberal Democrats believe that following these principles is a more pragmatic approach to the issue that does not impact on those who actively chose temporary/ agency working as a career.  We will not therefore be supporting the Temporary and Agency Workers Bill at second reading, although we will continue to argue for workers to be given greater protection by placing a limit on temporary contracts rolling on consecutively.

The final line is very significant – will this mean the end to companies with large profits effectively making permanent jobs into temporary jobs? Would it also mean that if someone has done the same job for so many months then that person has the right to apply for a similar permanent job or even their own job?
