Now I hear that Phil Woolas is appealing. A very bad move politically in my opinion. Voters don’t like bad losers (witness Winchester) and there could have been a backlash against Elwyn Watkins regarding the expense of a new election. Just drawing it out neuters that and an appeal simply lengthens the campaign time for the Lib Dems and makes Phil Woolas look like he doesn’t agree with the Law.
As for Ed Miliband – his judgement surely has a mark against it?
