You may remember I introduced the Danish entry as my tip for the top ten.
Tonight Spain chose their entry – and I have to say they’ve played a blinder. It’s a balearic waltz-like ballad (with a subtle Parisian undercurrent) by a wonderful singer called Daniel Diges. To call it a ballad though is understating the point – like all songs that reach the high placings it stretches the Eurovision genre yet has a kind of modernistic Spanish integrity. His voice is very `flexible` and he allows the song to breathe as if there’s a full flow of air around every note. I can tell you there’ll be a LOT of interest in this song come the Eurovision week.
