Good to see the latest policy developments on transport – one bugbear has been rail replacement bus services that take two to three times as long as the train journeys yet fares aren’t cut to reflect the new timings.
Once I was waiting for the last train to Stockport at Manchester Piccadilly. We were told that there was no driver so we’d have to wait for a bus service. This arrived about 45 minutes later thus it took one and a half hours to get from Manchester to Stockport (15 mins by train). It would have been better if we’d been given money for bus tickets and let those that were going further than Stockport to get on the bus. Perhaps that AND a fare refund on the spot would have been fair.
